A Modest Request (Re posted from last week)

On October 25th, our family is going on a Fundraising Walk to benefit the Friendship Circle, an organization that is near and dear to our hearts.

In our life outside of the turrets, we are the parents of a girl with special needs. What is the Friendship Circle? I’ll let them explain.

The Friendship Circle aims to provide children and teenagers with special needs with many of the social, recreational and (religious) experiences that are currently available to the general community and to provide their families with respite and support. These experiences are essential building blocks for an individual to acquire confidence and self esteem and to ultimately lead a productive, normative lifestyle.

At the heart of all of the Friendship Circle’s programming is the belief that each and every individual can be a productive member of the community and benefit from the social support offered by one’s peers. Friendship, acceptance and a chance to participate in socially accepted bonding opportunities are critical to achieving this type of inclusive society.

We envision a world in which people with special needs and their families experience acceptance, inclusion and friendship as contributing members of society. We foresee a future where they never again have to suffer the social isolation that has often been so prevalent in society.

It is truly all this and more, I really can’t say enough.

So what can you do? Click here to make a donation.

And thank you in advance for your support. Any help is greatly appreciated. Friendship Circle has made a tremendous positive impact on all of us. It is a wonderful organization and we are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the many great activities, social and educational, offered by the Friendship Circle.
