More Vonn-age

So this Lindsey Vonn SI cover photo has apparently caused a stir in some circles.
This from Women Talk Sports via Clusterstock.
Sports Illustrated is featuring Vonn on their February 8,2010 cover …… For those of you who follow SI Covers, know that female athletes are RARELY featured on the cover.
Over the last 60 years researchers have shown that about 4% of all SI covers have portrayed women.
When females are featured on the cover of SI, they are more likely than not to be in sexualized poses and not in action–and the most recent Vonn cover is no exception.
My immediate reaction to receiving this issue in the mail was to order 10 extra copies send a letter to the editor cancelling my subscription.
It seems a bit silly, i mean she is actually a skier. But hey, not my place to tell someone they shouldn’t get offended. It’s not like that Foldout Games Guide is a Lindsey Vonn photo essay. Or is it, hmmmm…
Anyway, quite the VIX pop. Thru the highs of Jan. 22, and an impressive 2 points above the March future. Important to remember though that that does not signify much of anything. VIX futures always assume some sort of mean reversion, right now the perceived “mean” is below here. They will not necessarily prove correct. In fact, they assumed too high a mean most of the last 9 month’s or so.
