Distribution Friday

One of the many lovely features of the Direxion Family of Leveraged ETF's is Distribution Day. Yes, they periodically pay out some of their realized profits to lucky shareholders, much like a dividend except you don't know exactly when they'll do it, or how much they will pay.

But fear not, it's not that big a deal, other than the potential tax implications. If you own the stock, you get the distribution (and the lower stock price as the NAV obviously gets clipped by a like amount), if you're short it, you owe the distribution. And options? Well, I'm not going to hit up all 11 effected options boards, but it's safe to assume they'll all adjust. Generally, the already listed options will now include the distribution whenever exercised, and the OCC will list a new class of regular options. Occasionally they'll just adjust the strike prices down by the amount of the distribution, but that's unlikely when the distribution is not a round a number (unless you want to trade the $39.35's in ERX, et. al.).

Anyway, here are the names and numbers.

ERX $4.65, BGU $6.51, TNA $4.67, EDC $21.95, DZK $12.00, TYH $23.02, MWJ $13.45, TYO $5.17, TMF $4.20, TMV $7.35, DRN $9.45.
